Took my access panel down and seen this hanging from the backbone harness:

1. Can anything be done at the fuse box to "tidy" things up a little?

Yup.

Regarding the other wires trace them out to see where they go. You have triple gauges in the truck so that will be using a lot of excess wires going everywhere.

Yep, neutral safety/reverse light switch. If you are wondering why you can start the truck in gear and that your reverse lights don't work....that's why....because it is no longer mounted at the base of the steering column.

Where does this go? It was just hanging there and what happens if I unplug it?

Yup.

Regarding the other wires trace them out to see where they go. You have triple gauges in the truck so that will be using a lot of excess wires going everywhere.

My dad installed the triple gauges. All I want to do is tidy it up where it doesn't look like a rats nest.

So THATS why my reverse lights just stay on?
I had to remove the bulbs or otherwise I would blind the driver behind me at night.

Regarding wires here is how I clean up my wiring all the time. You get a bunch of cable ties and tie up your wires every 4-6". As long as all the wires are same diameter they will group together nicely.

Also for gauges you can use 14-16g wires and you can piggyback the power and ground wires off each other to reduce wiring.

If you intend to remount the switch - let me tell you from experience - it is quicker to disconnect the flexible coupling (rag joint), release the firewall flange and pull the column into the truck. If you don't want to do that, at least release the bolts that hold it to the dash and drop it down.
