It just started...I noticed that the gas tank switch was "in between". I probably hit it while working in the light switch yesterday... I still have to figure out what's the problem with the lights...

THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!! The new switch was connected hanging from the wires under the dash, so I pulled the knob out, mounted the switch on the dash and...same problem again...no lights and the engine cranks but doesn't start...

The switch is not working, no lights. And the engine is cranking but doesn't start.

At the moment the position of the switch doesn't matter at all, It is like there is no spark

It is like the light circuit is acting out and when it does, there are no lights and the engine cranks but doesn't fire up

The no lights and the engine cranking is EXACTLY what mine did. I would check that fusible link and all connections at the starter. It seems strange but all the light power comes off of the starter lead and one of those fuse links.

I drove mine for a few days without lights until the wiring on the starter (Or the starter itself) fried.

Ouch.... That wire nut is made for house wiring not auto electric. That could be part of the problem. With it exposed and wet your going to ground out in all the wrong places.
