I have had this "Stack headlight" pick me up tuck for over 30 years. Been busy in the past but now it is time to put her on the road. VIN is: 1GCHC33M4BZ100546 Just before I purchased it the original owner put a GM crate replacement engine in it. He used the truck to pull his 5th wheel during his retirement. Sadly he passed away and his wife sold it to me. I brought it over to Dubai. Has saddle tanks on it (2 times 25 gallon tanks. I put a wren wench on it just in case. But would like to see what information is out there on it. Greatly appreciate an info and references given. Also any heads up for known issues. Thank you.
Regards,
Capt

Welcome! I'm not sure why but it seems like people block out license plates and don't publish the full VIN. The last numbers don't really provide vehicle detail so you may want to delete the last 3 digits or so with ***.

Just my $0.02. Like I said, I don't know if it matters.

Welcome!
Known issues? It’s a 40 year old truck and they’re about as reliable as the condition they’re in. And relatively simple.
Let’s see some pics of that thing in Dubai!

Nice! I've been through Dubai a few times going into and out of Afghanistan, seemed like an interesting place.

Your saddle tanks should be 20 gallons each and would be the standard size for all C/K 20 and 30 series trucks and Crew cabs.

Here's a link to the original vehicle information kit for GM trucks in 1981. It lists all available and standard options for them that year. If you still have the SPID label in the glovebox it can also tell you the options that were factory installed. https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/do...its/Chevrolet-Trucks/1981-Chevrolet-Truck.pdf

If you dont have the SPID label and want to know how it was originally optioned, you can send $50 to the GM heritage museum and they will send you the original vehicle invoice and option sheet for your truck. 1981 was the first year for the full 17 digit standardized VIN. You can see the decoder here: http://www.73-87chevytrucks.com/techinfo/73-91VIN/1981truck.pdf

Your VIN reads as
1- US built
G- GM
C- Chevrolet Truck
H- 9001-10000lb GVWR
C- Conventional Cab 4x2
3- 1-Ton
3- 4 Door Cab
M- 5.7L(350 CID) Engine
4- Check digit
B- 1981 Model year
Z- Fremont, CA Production plant

Sure hope you have a garage/barn to store that beauty in. Unless the weather patterns have changed since I was there for the first Gulf war games, it will get sand blasted with the wind coming off the Gulf!
