Yea well at her age and health and abusive life and for only a mere $1500 she owes me nothing. Id like to replace the engine and keep it alive. Im curious to see whats really wrong with it though.

I traded the running TBI engine out of my 87 for a TH400 NP208. you could of had it I just got tired of looking at it and needed the adapter and input shaft out of the 208

To be perfectly clear, NO 350 TBI left the factory with a roller cam. All had hydraulic flat tappet from 1987-1995 installed in engines with L05 build code.
The part about the blocks being "roller ready" except for later years is true.

The way I view using a flat tappet cam with current oil formulations is like building your new engine dependant on leaded gas.

I do love the sweet music from a solid lifter cam though.

Trucks. Correct.
Cars got roller came in '87 when still carbed. Then retained the roller cam with TBI in '88.

The 4.3 v6 was in sqaurebodies at least as early as 1985, but probably even earlier. I know because my dad had a 1985 c10 with one.

I think '85 was the first year for the 4.3 across the board. Although the S10 didn't get them until '88 for some reason.
