Pretty easy jack the truck up and support the frame behind the leaf springs with jack stands and block the tires that are on the ground. Take the tires off and spoort the or rear axle with a jack and take the shocks loose and then take the ubolts off. Lower the axle down and then you can remove the bolts at the shackles and frame mounts to remove the leaf srings

u can cheat

They make leaf spring helpers and some places like pep boys sell a single add a leaf spring kit pretty cheap and easier than taking apart and if you do take it apart u might want to check your shackles and make sure its in good shape along with the bushing since u have everything out & when u put it all back together use anti seize on all the bolts nuts and washers i just did my new leafs and springs u bolts on my 86 c10 theyre were original i took off my box wich has been restored so it was easy and i cut off the heads on all the bolts and air shissled them out i wasted 4 tanks of oxy. & acet. to loosen up u bolts it took forever

Ok what I'm asking is it the same steps as the rear leaf springs to do the front leaf springs. To REMOVE them.

Yes if your doing the front i even left the sway bar hooked to the spring plates. Just make sure your brake likes dont get stretched to far. Just support the frame next to the springs either at the back of the front spring or infront of the rear springs.

I just disassembled a rear pack of spring and added the middle 4 leaves to my front pack to positive arch them and add about 4 inches of lift to the front end.

Hope you don't have a bunch of money wrapped up in dental work...

No worries, Gold has more than trippled in price since he had all that work done. Just long as he can find his teeth after they get knocked out.

Extreme Caution needed for sure.

Honestly it rides no worse then before. There is more travel then before and now its not hitting the spring bumpers above the ubolt plate.

77 jimmy did you get your leaf spring bushings done, Did it go good?

smurph20- In my opinion I would just buy new 4" arched leafsprings. By adding all the leafs it will stiffen up the ride. May need to replace your shocks too. The travel maybe maxed out. I have seen some people add a block under the stop to get it lower or leave them off.

I still have almost 4 inches of travel in the front shocks. I only did this for a temporary fix to the sagging front end and the ride is actually no different from what it was. It handles better and rides smoother now that the springs are away from the bumpstop.
