How to choose torque converter?

I have an Eaton posi with 373 gears.

Is there a formula for figuring your torque converter?

Figuring what?

I would suggest you call a good reputable company and talk to them. What you plan to use the truck for is just as important as what is in there when selecting the torque converter. Are you trying to pick a stall speed?

Yes, sir, stall speed.

My intentions for the truck are to cruise around, sound good, and burn rubber.
It won’t be a daily driver. It will be my muscle truck.

Call a few converter companies and discuss having a converter custom built.

The more info you have about your engine, vehicle weight, gearing, etc, the better the converter match will be.

A custom converter won’t be much more than a off the shelf part

Doubtful your rear brakes can hold much more than 2500 rpm.

3.73 gears are probably a good compromise for the street with that cam if you don’t have large tires. However, the higher stall speed converters would get the rpm up to improve things off the line.

I would go over to the hotrodders.com forum and ask about stall speeds for converters. Provide specs for your truck and ask for vendor recommendations. Some “custom” builders provide better products than others.

Just ball-parking it, an off the shelf converter advertised around 2400-2500 would probably work well for the combo. Actual stall speed will likely be a bit lower.
