Hooking up the electric choke

How do I hook it up, there’s a plug that wasn’t connected to anything, I have another plug for single terminal in a box. Pay no mind to that nasty filter :/

just put +12v from anywhere you want on it.
(i'd use switched so it doesn't drain the battery of course)

Nope choke should be 12v hot when the engine has oil pressure. Choke oil pressure switch is mounted on the block on the drivers side. See if one of your mystery plugs is 12v hot with engine running.

I was trying to find the Lt blue wire from the oil pressure switch to use, finally realized that this little fella is the end of that Lt blue wire but wasn’t thinking about the spade connector was probably for the old choke terminal, so didn’t think about that wire anymore until todays aha moment, had to make sure the color cause it’s discolored,,,I cut it off and attached the correct connector for choke that has the one terminal

I wanted that wire so the choke light will work with the oil pressure switch,, however Chegney has mentioned how that goes together

I installed a tee fitting into the back of the engine with an oil pressure switch and a then the oil pressure gauge. I ran the choke wire to the oil pressure switch so that it’s only on when the engine is actually running. Edit: Oops late to the party.

Can i use a wire straight to the battery, temporarily or will it fry something? Also my choke has a wire connected to the body of the carb which i assume is ground, does that mean i need to connect the other terminal to the hot side of the battery?

There is not near enough information here to give you a good answer. If I have to make assumptions I'm going to assume the wire connected to your choke is a positive lead that only has power when the engine is running. A pic of the wire and carburetor you are talking about would probably be helpful

No. Best to tap a switched ignition source at the fuse block.
If he needs a hot to the choke it's best to pull power through an oil pressure switch that will supply power only when the engine is running. Most if not all carbuerated squares were wired that way.

I believe my ignition source was the windshield wiper motor. It is best to run to an oil pressure switch if you can but isn’t necessary.

This is a quote from holley, I know the qjet has a vacuum passage into the choke housing so I am only assuming a similar situation. G bodies use the alternator to power the choke only when engine is running,squares use an oil pressure switch. Some people on other forums say they burnt up their heating element run just a keyed hot wire.I'm not going to try to outsmart their engineers. It's easy enough to do it,as GM designed it.
