With my 76 k5 someone swapped the original low back bucket seats out to high back bucket seats. foamypirate mentioned cutting the high back seats down to low back. Anyone have experience with this and what I need to look for? I'm planning on buying new covers from brothers unless anyone else has any other vendors that sell close to oem style.

i had crap seats in my 75, came across some ford ranger truck seats probably late 90s. they had adjustable head rest, they just pulled right out, so it gave it the low back look.

For what it is worth, in my ongoing quest to find a good set of blue high back buckets, I have seen a few sets of low backs for sale on craigslist in Charlotte over the past few months. May be worth trying to find a set.

I've been hunting craigslist trying to find some. Idk I'd really love to just chop these down if it would work

I posted a response in your wanted ad before I saw this. In short, I'd recommend just leaving the seats alone and continuing your search for the correct seats.

That's kinda what I figured I would have to do. You don't happen to have any pics of the high back seat you gutted without the foam on it do you? I'm curious to see what they look like

Actually I do, sort of. I removed the crappy bottom foam, but I left the upper in place because it was in good shape. It completely surrounds the seat back, all as one piece.

Like foam, lol. The frame itself is not visible, it's just surrounded by a single formed piece of foam. I'd take more pics, but I'm in VA again.

Oh ok I wasn't sure if the frame formed the headrest as well or just the bottom part

Yeah, the frame seems to go up near the top of the seat. Like in the headrest area too.
