The guts were missing on my column shift indicator so I ordered a replacement unit. I have searched both of my shop manuals for a picture of where the wire piece with the clip on the end goes but have found nothing. Does anyone out there have a photo of how (where) this piece fits?
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Fits to a notch in the steering column.
Some are held in place with a little screw. I have seen many without them tho.

Does the double wire (line) that is connected to the spring attach somehow to the cluster backing plate?

Charlie, thanks man, the video was exactly what I needed to see. My dash cluster is just like that one!
This is an incredible website and an invaluable tool for all of us trying to keep these old machines on the road.

Just to be redundant. :)

Mine slips a little, so I'll eventually use a short screw to hold it in place. Or maybe a dab of silicon glue.
