I am looking to purchase some 16x9 bullet hole rims for my sons truck and I know nothing about this. The lift is a 4" BDS lift and BDS suggests 3.5" of backspacing using 15x8 rims. I don't know what that would "convert" to for using a 16" rim with 315/75/16 tires. I want to make sure I don't rub anything and not have to run spacers if I don't have to.
Thanks
Mike

Uhhhh….

This is an assumption because I haven’t personally tried it but, you’ll be hard pressed to clear those 35” tires on only 4” of lift without some trimming

I forgot to add that I am going to add 2" body lift. I am more concerned right know with the rubbing of the steering.

4" backspacing works fine. This is 4" BDS springs, 16x8 wheels and 305/70 tires.

I think you'll be completely fine with a 315 on a 16x8.

Rim size is largely irrelevant. Tire width, height and rim width/offset are the determining factors.
I understand it pretty well and I still find it useful to draw the options compared to whatever baseline you’re using. Or more accurately calc the difference in height /offset
In general you could run 35s on an effective 6” lift like you’re proposing with 0 offset rims like you’re thinking. 4” would be a no go for the most part without pushing the front axle forward a bit.
