So I just got my truck back from a buddy who did a little motor work for me, I went out to take the truck for a drive and the park brake is stuck on, the lever is released completely. The previous owner re ran the brake lines and I'm not sure if that makes any difference but any help is appreciated.

On mine, sometimes the cables bind. I can usually reach under and wiggle or stretch or pull or whatever and get them to release.

You'll probably have to crawl under and see what's causing the binding.

I had my e-brake cable hang when I was taking my drivers test to get my license. The old K10 had probably never had the parking brake used ever before this (it's an auto and park worked). I get to the point they ask you to parallel park as if you were leaving it for the night. Turn the wheels toward the curb, park brake, the whole deal. State trooper says "okay, let's pull out and head back."

I pulled the lever, heard the pop of the pedal jumping up, start to pull out and I realize it's taking a lot more fuel to get going than I expected. RPMs climbing and we aren't moving. I started to panic realizing it was hung and I wasn't about to pass this test. Without taking my foot off the gas I pulled the release again and with my left foot I kick the pedal a bit higher and we're off with jump. The trooper looked at me, down to her clipboard, and jotted some notes.

I knew I was done for. She doesn't tell you if you pass or fail right there. You have to wait. I was sick, all my buddies were going to shame me for my failed attempt at getting my license... Turns out, she just marked me down for leaving the spot too violently or something. I can't remember the wording but it was the only thing I was docked points for. Passed with a 96.

Not sure if my experience will help but that is how I got out of a jam nearly 20 years ago.

I moved this to a more appropriate subforum rather than "Introduction" so that it gets more appropriate visibility

On mine the cable hangs up in the jacket and it does the same thing, locks up one wheel. I can get it to free up by wiggling the cable, but it hangs up again the next time I use the P-brake. So the only real fix is to replace the cable.

You mean the light is still on?

If the light is still on you may have a hydraulic problem. There is switch in the residual pressure valve that powers the beake warning light when one side of the system has low pressure. Look for a leak. Check the level in the reservoirs and see if one of them is really low. If it is, the larger reservoir is the front and the smaller the rear. Start looking for leaking pipes, hoses or calipers/cylinders.

It says p brake.. I figure it has to be connected to the foot lever and it kicks on if the lever isn't all the way up, I seen a switch that looks to me like what I'm thinking I just couldn't figure out how to get the switch to kick the light off, I'm not sure if maybe the switch just doesn't work? And so the light stays on

If you unplugged the wire the light should go out. AFAIK, yours should work like my '85 where the light also serves as a failure warning. I know they made some changes between the two years, so it's possible yours is different.
