Last night we were on our first freeway journey. Running great. Project truck and gauges don’t work. Recently filled with gas (or so I thought as it would t take any more). Truck dies at freeway speed with no indicator of anything. Highly resembled HEI coil going bad. Instantly shut off. Could not get the motor to fire after. Replaced coil. No change.

Today tried some starter fluid and got it to pop but not run. Battery dies, tested bad. Grabbed a known charged and good battery. Starter fluid and gas down the carb. Fires and dies. Pull fuel line at carb and totally dry. Crank motor with it off, no fuel delivery. Tap tank and it ring hollow. FML!

Truck is on the side of the road at and angle, leaning to the drivers side, preventing a gas can from filling the tank.

Do I siphon gas into the tank through the gas filler with a tube shoved down into the tank? Siphon into the tank through the outlet?

So pissed and frustrated at this point!

Use a transmission funnel with a piece of hose on the end, slip the hose in the filler neck hold the funnel 90* to the ground, pour in fuel.

This.
You’ll need to get the hose (heater hose size) a bout a good foot down the filler neck, then gravity will doo the rest.
Good luck !

If you had a passenger side tank, this would be an ideal time to switch it over to that side.
