Help. Car won't turn over to start.

Truck started great before I installed Intellitronix gauges.

I installed gauges with temporary connections. Gauges work, Started OK.

I removed all temporary connections and made them permanent.
Now I turn key; gauges light up.
Makes one "ugg" then nothing and gauges turn off.

New battery. I needed it anyway. Charged to 100 percent. Voltage over 12.5.

Removed starter. Starter and solenoid look brand new. Attached to new battery with with jumper cables. Jumped S terminal to positive jumper cable connection.

Solenoid snaps gear forward. Starter spins like a mo' fo'.

I did the easy stuff first, new battery, tested starter motor.

I guessing something in the electrical system is either drawing too much juice, or it gets grounded some way.

Before I take the gauge panel out to check all connections, looking for suggestions.

It's gotta be the gauges, no?

While typing i was thinking. I'm gonna disconnect all power to the gauges. Install starter and try it.

If it worked before the permanent install. Back track, even unhook wire by wire till it starts. That is what I would do.

I was hoping you would not say that. First i'll try disconnecting the 12V always, Ignition wire and ground wire.

take starter to parts store for load testing, it spinning over fast when theres no load on it is only a test to make sure its not jammed or has a dead spot, doesnt mean it is in good working order.

see if you can use one from a newer truck with gear reduction, it will start faster and help your battery.

Every single time I've had a "one-clunk ug" it's been a bad connection on the battery cable.

I got so tired of it, especially when working on the truck and unhooking the batt, I installed a master cutoff switch near the batt. Now I lift the hood, turn the switch and instantly kill all electrical power.

No more finiky cable connections.

Put brass shotgun brush to cable ends in drill. Starts perfectly not.

Simple fix for the Win !! I assume that like me, you got bit by spell check and that was really starts perfectly now .
