Hello to all.

Just created an account so I figured I’d take the time to make an introductory post / thread? I’m a long time forum searcher but have never really posted on any forums I’ve used.

My name is Russ and I have a 1981 SWB C10. I’ll attach some photos. I’ve Owned the truck probably about 10 years now. I don’t really wanna say what I bought it for cause seeing how the market is now days I think I got a really good deal on it. And I haven’t really done much to change the truck in the time I’ve owned it. I’ve always wanted to and I have done some things here and there but nothing major.

From what I know the truck was originally and Inline Six and it was a manual. Somewhere Along its life someone built it into a little hot rod of sorts. We were told it has a 383 stroker motor in it. And it may very well be true the truck sounds great especially after my dad and I put some headers and some Flowmaster 40’s on it. It has a column shift now and I believe it’s a T350. It’s a tilt column and my dad seems to think it may be out of a van cause the column seems to be longer than it should. The truck is pretty low but it’s not slammed. It’s not notched or anything. That’s probably my main focus is to one day have a really nice steering and suspension setup. And the truck was originally a dark brown but it was repainted to more of a rusty brown and it was pinstriped with like an 80’s style I guess you would call it. One day at a gas station this guy came up to me to tell me about my truck and says he knows the guy who painted it and striped it. Bob Spirit. He even pointed out his name on the tail gate which I had never noticed. I tried finding out how to get ahold of that guy for a long time but I have come to learn that he is getting pretty old and doesn’t see or hear to well. I wanted to get him to re stripe it.

Anywho I’m rambling now. But last thing, I bought the canopy that I have on it now off Craigslist from an old boy here in Vancouver and I absolutely love this canopy. I’d love to get it restored but I couldn’t find any info on the manufacturer online anywhere. Says “Erickson Industries Incorporated Cornelius, Oregon” so if anyone has any recommendations on somewhere that works on truck canopies local to the PNW I’d love to know.

Cheers!

(Also I tried uploading a lot of photos and then realized you could only do 5 and then most of them disappeared, so yeah I’m new to this haha)

Here’s a couple more older pictures I found in my camera roll. The truck no longer has that cowl hood. Me and my dad made that hood ourselves with a cheap sheet metal cowl we got at a swap meet and then just a junkyard squarebody hood. Cut and welded it all and some bondo / filler and sanding and then paid someone to try and paint match it. It was a fun project and learning experience

The wheels are 15” Chevy Rally wheels. Idk I bought them off Craigslist. And the tires are BF Goodrich Radials 255/60R15 in the front and 295/50R15 in the rear.

Welcome from Wisco! That’s a pretty sweet ride, and I love the stance! I’m hoping to lower my ‘87 regular cab dually this year. Want to go as low as possible without notching the frame, like yours. Thanks for all the pics “on your way in the door”! We’re gluttons for pics around here, as I’m sure you know!
