Hi all,
Been lurking on the forum for a short while now. Huge wealth of knowledge here. Finally decided I should sign up. I'm playing Frankenstein trying to create a truck I will enjoy. Been accidentally gathering parts for about 3 years now. Haphazardly, never really intended to do this project but things kind of fell into place. New to Square bodies but not new to GM, have/had GMs since I got my license.
1996 GMC Savana with Explorer conversion
1991 Avanti (1991 Chevy Caprice chassis, powertrain)
2005 GMC Sierra
1981 C20 (project)
various S10s and Astros.
I bought a 1977 K20 about 3 years ago as a rolling chassis with no engine/transmission. The cab and front clip were used by the PO. I intended to use the the 14bff in a wrangler build paired with a dana 60 out of a Ford. But I decided I didn't want to follow through. So the truck just sat.
I finally ended up procuring a 1981 C20 3+3 Custom Deluxe from a local mechanic shop. It was sitting there for about 8 years. Apparently the previous owner was done with the truck and just wanted the engine and transmission removed for a different project. The mechanic was going to scrap the truck. LONG story short, I ended up "buying" it for the cost of pulling the engine and transmission for him. Shop was busy.
Day I picked it up:
(PO swapped a lot of 30 series parts onto the truck hence the fender and mirrors)
Have already started a 4x4 swap using the parts from the K20. Not sure yet what engine I'll use. I was thinking about a diesel swap but I'm still kind of in the air on that. I'm terrible at taking photos while doing projects but I'll try and post as I can.
