Hello!

I'm 21 years old, from Ontario Canada.

Couple weeks ago I picked up my first square. 1987 Chevrolet V20 Longbox.

First truck I remember riding around in as a little guy, was my Great Grandfathers 87 Chevy. So I couldn't resist when I came across one. It will be a tribute to him once it's finished. So there's some motivation.

Glad to found the site, hoping to gain a wealth of knowledge from all of you, and will have many questions along the way!

Well after a few months hiatus from the forum, I'm back.

Finished all of the tear down, and so on. The frame has been Blasted and painted, along with the leaf springs, and the axles. I've been busy stripping paint and sanding down, getting ready to send it to my body man.

Since I've been lurking around here, I've also decided to do a LS Swap. Going after work tomorrow to see a guy near me that has some 5.3L's and some 6L's. All are 2003's.

Now my question is, will I have any issues using: 5.3L/6L along with a TH400 (I believe I need a spacer) and my NP203? Thanks guys. Any input and/or suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Howdy!

It's my understanding that the earlier 6.0's don't need a spacer to mate with an older trans. I guess the crank flange is thicker than the 5.3 motors.

Thanks bucket!

Do you believe a 2003 6.0L to be in that category of not needing the spacer? Thanks for the input!

I think you need some new tires ;)

Yes, I would have to agree with you haha. That will come down the road! These are just to keep it mobile for now.

UPDATE: I have picked up my 6.0L from a 2003! With 185K on it!

Well lots has got done since i've posted on here last!

New 6 inch lift kit has been installed, all 4 new springs.
Stainless Steel brake lines ran.
Rear brakes and components are done and new.
TH400 has been completely rebuilt with a shift kit, and painted.
Along with a new torque converter.
NP208 (I realize in my previous posts i believed it to be NP203, silly me) has been all rebuilt and painted up.
I've got my new 87' fuel tank on and mounted up. Just put together my 87' sending unit and attached my bosch equivalent to the AC Delco EP381 fuel pump.
Also on the 6.0L I have installed a new water pump, tensioner, idler wheel, new belt, new crank pulley, thermostat, power steering pulley, power steering pump.

The whole cab is done. It received new inner and outer rockers, both sides. New cab corners both sides. And some new sheet metal in the drivers side floor. Also had some cuts the previous owner made behind the seat to get at the rear mounting bolts, fixed and welded back. Looking good! The inside of the cab is painted in Black Amethyst Metallic. And the floor has been rocker guarded, as well as the under side of the cab. All new body mounts installed as well! And my doors are also done and roughly fitted on the cab! Exciting to see it starting to look like a truck again! I know my great grandfather would be very proud!
New brake booster, and master cylinder have also been put on!

Here's a bunch of pictures to get y'all caught up! :)
