Hello All,
New here. Just bought a '74 C20, 2WD, 350 qjet, long bed. 60k original miles, and bought from the original owner's son ("Grandpa" had recently passed). The thing is quite cherry. Next to no rust (Ziebart'd at dealer in 1974, and taken care of). Motor/trans run well aside from shot accel pump. Has 3rd party aftermarket A/C, and some sort of beastly 70's classIII+ hitch that necessitates the spare be carried in the bed.
Happy owner of an old simple 2wd v-8 vehicle again. I raced oldsmobiles years ago, and the 455 swap thread is pretty cool. Thanks to this site I have identified my rear end as well, and confirmed my guess that it has 4.10's in it (haven't even jacked it up yet). I will surely have questions as I continue on with this thing. Long time GM guy, but never got into the nuances of the pickups....in time....
I'd love to do a lot to this thing, but it's so nice I think all I'm going to do is go through all the rubber/etc, buff it, etc. A test buff spot came out amazing. The motor is a turd so down the road will likely pallet the original motor/trans/rear, and go 454/etc out the back.
Cheers! -John
