So my new cab is was a factory air truck, but I want to go with heat only. I know the easiest way out would be to purchase one of those fiberglass AC delete panels, but I figured I'd try something else first.

I found an old thread on another forum, where the guy was able to bolt up his factory heat only box to the firewall. He had to cut a new hole in the firewall for the blower motor to be able to blow on the heater core, but other than that it seems like it worked flawlessly.

Quick question, can I keep the factory AC components under the dash, or do you have to switch all that with the factory heat only setup? I skimmed through the thread quickly, and didn't find an answer. It looks like he kept the factory AC dash components, but idk?

Thanks guys!

I believe you have to change everything to heat only, heat only use cable controls and A/C uses vacuum, you'll have to make a plate to cover the A/C hole in the firewall too.

My truck was heat only and someone added the A/C, so now I have to make a plate to cover half the hole, shouldn't be noticeable when it's done though.

You will also need a inside and outside non AC heater box
and non ac heater control they come in 2 cable or 3 cable design
when I did my conversion I found a truck at the wrecking yard
and just grabbed everything it was like $100

Maybe this will give you ideas. Heater only box with a hole cut and pipe welded. Was easy to set up

Interesting setups.

I think I might bite the bullet and buy the fiberglass delete panel.

I was running my cab harness today, and realized that the cab harness I have is for a non ac setup, but the cab is an ac cab. I assume I can remove the ac part of the harness and use the non ac wiring?

I'll figure it out either way I guess. I need heat!
