Hey so I got a 85 k20 mud truck with 40s on it. It’s supper hard to turn in the mud pits unless tires are spinning but if you try to get grip on the wall good luck. If there is anyway to make steering Easyier that would be helpful.

Locker or open diff?

Assuming all of your parts are good, hydraulic assist can be very helpful, especially if you have a locker.

Crossover steering should help, but will most likely want hydraulic assist or full hydraulic steering.

Especially on 40's and being just a mud truck.

Just to say it, it should only need hydraulic assist if the front axle is locked up. If the truck doesn't have a locker / spool / welded diff then it should steer (especially in mud where there's less resistance).

I agree, crossover will improve the steering and a u-joint type steering shaft (like from an XJ, Borgesson, etc) will tighten up the feel quite a bit too.
