Let's see if we can do something challenging and educational that doesn't involve crayons.

Post a pic of an unusual or antique tool and see if the collective intelligence here can identify it's purpose. Maybe you can stump the crowd or finally figure out what that "thingamabob" in the bottom drawer is.

Here's one to get us started. Can anyone identify this?

And just an FYI, I do know what this is.

I suspect that with such a large membership the odds of us coming up with something that nobody here has seen before is slim.

I've got a few more possibilities at the shop. Hopefully some other people have some challenges for us as well.

Yeah, that is kind of broad. I have some that are similar that are for timing injection pumps. It would be hard to tell the difference between those and these just by looking at them.

Without a size reference or other hint I'm going to take a wild guess those threads fit spark plugs holes and they're for measuring piston height for degreeing gasoline engines.

I've got some little doohickey at home in my toolbox that I really really want to know what it is. But I'm away for work. I could ask my wife to look for it, but I can imagine how that conversation would go, lol.

I'm hoping this thread will be around for a while. So post it when you get to it. I have a couple of doohickeys that I'm going to put up too. Chances are they're part of something long gone, so if somebody can ID it I can throw it out with a clear conscience. Otherwise my inner hoarder forbids it.
