Some of you might be familiar with my '65 GTO, which I inherited from my dad upon his passing.

I received a note that stated the Gilmore Museum (the "Red Barns") in Hickory Corners Michigan was looking for a GTO for their musclecar display til next April.

I thought "hey - free secure, heated storage through next winter". (lol)

So I dropped the car off yesterday afternoon. My wife and I looked around while they got the car situated in the display - front and center.

That's nice !!! No way in hell I could go into that place. I'd be walking around with a boner, not to mention probably both **** and piss my pants multiple times and cry like a 4 year old when they told me I had to go.

I'd be that bad kid too when the sign say don't touch. I'd be getting in the cars putting the seat belt on and making vrooom vrooom noises, especially in the 4 speeds. I'd be speed shiftin gears and all kinda ****. :happy175:

That's an excellent museum. I was there several years ago for a motorcycle but toured the museum too. Kudos to your dad for having such a fine car.

Reading the article you wrote and mentioning Tri-City Dragway brought back a lot of memories. I used to go there when I was young and saw a lot of the big names of the time. I remember watching the planes come in for a landing or taking off. The track is still there but appears to be in a state of disrepair.

My second car I owned was a 67 GTO Ram Air 1 car which I got in 1970. Learned to drive a 4 speed in that car. Had to sell during the oil embargo years when gas doubled and then some. That was a mistake.

I really liked the 65’s too, a very clean design. I hope you get plenty of opportunities to enjoy driving the car.

That is seriously cool! Someday when I'm retired, which means I will have hit the lottery :(, I'll have that museum on my bucket list.
