Hello All,
New member here. Early 40’s dude with an 86 K5 Silverado. Had this ol boy since I was 17. Currently running a rebuilt 350/carb setup (originally came with the 305/TBI, I do believe) and TH700R4 trans. Not sure about the transfer case. Nothing fancy other than some Hooker headers and Flowmaster duals with a 3” lift and a mild upgrade to 12 bolt rearend. It’s been driven out to the west coast on two separate occasions and to Key West in the early 2000s…one of those occasions needing a rebuilt transmission in Brookings, OR…good memories. As I’ve gotten older and more financially secure, I’ve been able to do more with it in the last 7 years. Earlier this year, got a new paint job (to include a better hood and tailgate) and had the rearend rebuilt with a limited slip. Last month, I bought an American Autowire complete wiring harness and installed it (questions to follow as a result). This will not be a mudder or rock crawler, just “another” extra vehicle to cruise around with the family. Not sure how long it will be mine, since my 14 yr old daughter is adamant about driving it when she turns 16…we’ll see. Anyways, looking forward to the wealth of knowledge and experience on this forum. Wish I would’ve found this site years ago. Go Dawgs!
