Just got myself 89 Suburban for a family camping cruiser. 80k miles. Its pretty much standard with a 6.2 Diesel and 2wd.
Slow as hell but cheap to run and rare in New Zealand because most of our cars are *** imports. Has some minor electrical gremlins I'll be asking for some help for soon. Blowing fuses on the dash gauge/glow plug circuit.

fortunatley, the electrical systems are fairly simple (by today’s standards) on these.
Generally if you’re blowing fuses, there’s a live short on a + wire in the circuit. And that’s a likely possibility on a 30 year old vehicle.
I’d start with finding a wiring diagram and then go physically trace the circuits that are shorting out.

The glow plug circuit may have a different issue though, and it’s been a lot of moons since I’ve been around a 6.2, but your glow plug relay might not be shutting off like it should and the plugs eventually draw too many amps (if the fuse doesn’t blow immediately). Or the glow plugs themselves are worn and developing too much resistance or compromised wiring (just degraded from pulling amps for so long) could be causing too high of an amp draw. Iirc, each gp should pull around 20 amps.
If the gps are old, it’s time to replace them anyway. Chances that all of them are good is very slim. Basically a long term maint item on diesels with glow plugs. They wear out.
