My name is Matt but everybody calls me Coobie or Coob.

Had several hot rods and C10’s throughout the years. I picked up this 1979 shortbed a while back. It was lifted when I got it and sitting on 33” tires...well that look was just not gonna work for me so down down down she went.

Fun little truck but needs more power. I was thinking about building a stroker for it but came across a deal on an LS1 complete with decent mileage so I bought it. Just found a 4L80 trans that I will be mounting up to it.

Which brings me to the reason I signed up for the forum, I will have questions while doing this swap and what better place to pose those questions than here!

Welcome from PA. My personal opinion... i liked it before the drop.

I hear where you are coming from but if that’s what I was after it would have to be a high end pre-runner build with 20+” of travel quad linked rear, etc...not the hack pile of **** 3” body lift that it had!

I knew what I wanted to build and was looking for the right vessel.

BTW I’m liking that Impy SS in your profile pic

Welcome from Minnesota!! Hey, I am glad to see you put that baby where she belongs, slammed down! I just love that look. That looks like the same setup I put into my big dually this past summer. Love the looks of these old squares on the ground, especially when they are a 2WD truck!

A 4x4 on the other hand, those are cool lifted.

Nice truck!

I’m not a fan of lowered stuff really. But I like what you did especially getting rid of that body lift, good job!
