GM Delco CB Radio

I have an original GM Delco CB radio from 1978. These came with a combined CB and AM/FM antenna that ran thru a splitter. I don't have the joint antenna. I'm wondering if I can run the GM Delco CB radio with a dedicated CB antenna and use the existing windshield antenna for the AM/FM.

You don't need a joint antenna. You have the splitter, get a good cb antenna and run it through the splitter to the cb and radio

Just connect a CB antenna. CB needs a good antenna that matches the frequencies, but an AM/FM radio is so simple that it could get by with an antenna made of just about any wire you found around the garage.

If you don't want to run two antennas, get a good cb antenna, and if your old splitter is shot, get a new one.

My dad had a 78' GMC K20 with AM/FM/CB combination radio that had an 8 track player in it was well. He had the windshield antenna and a dedicated CB whip on the roof.

I have to admit I kind of miss the CB radio, what I don't miss is trying to understand someone giving out important information, like road conditions ahead when ignition interference is being a problem.
