I sure hope these things don't catch trucks on fire, or we're gonna be 1 unhappy forum of people by the first of the year.

Damn, I am gonna have to order 8 of these for all my trucks??? I'll go broke. Probably just 2, well maybe 3.

I wouldn't suggest it if I haven't tried it myself fellas, I used this before. Now the heated dipstick, I can't vouch for that. If somebody wants to be the guinea pig for it, and got a straight dipstick tube, PM me your address and it's yours.

Thanks for the offer. I'll pass on the dipstick as good of an idea as it sounds. I think I like the lower radiator hose gig better for certain.

Let me change my insurance over to full coverage so I at least get 50 bucks after my truck burns down. Then I will try the dipstick heater :roflbow:

I sure like the idea of a heated dipstick. Sure would make a differant for cold weather starts and quicker lubrication. Sometimes that motor oil can get like pancake syrup when its cold enough and takes its sweet ass time getting thru the crank journals, and of course for a colder motor, and auto choke you are turning 1200 rpm or so to keep it running at first. That has got to be the worst on engine wear is cold start ups.

don't forget use 5W30 synthetic blend in the winter that really helps too.

of course though i have a block heater, coolant heater, and battery warming pad because nobody likes pancake syrup for oil and a frozen battery in the winter either.

i just went to walmart and purchased new tires for winter 31x10.50x15 6 ply mud snow tires studded of course and i got some spray lube and grease for it. greased the fittings and wheel bearings and sprayed my locks and doors.

we have about 6 inches of snow coming and i want to be ready

here is to you snow :flipthebird:

I'lll NEVER use Blended Oil. I either use conventional, or I use FULL SYNTHETIC. Blended is a rip-off. Mfr's can get by with 99% conventional and add 1% Synthetic and call it blended. Besides, if you care about your motor, care about your motor and go FULL Synthetic. Some will disagree, but when I use a Mobil 1 Oil Filter, and Full Synthetic Oil, I do not change my oil for 10,000 miles. Mobil 1 filter is about the best money can buy, and Full Synthetic is good oil. Full Synthetic oil for 10,000 miles is better for your motor, than Conventional at 3,000 miles. Granted, once your motor get very very well worn, you may wish to change a little sooner. My Box Van has 171,000 miles on it, and it has had 10K Symthetic Oil changes, or 1 year, which is least. One thing to keep in mind, motor oil NEVER ever wears out. Motor oil also does not just break down. What causes motor oil to break down or needing to be changed is the fact that it gets diluted. It gets diluted for combustion getting past your rings into the crankcase. So it makes sense that a newer nice tight motor, will allow much less combustion to get by the rings, where a very well worn loose motor will need the oil changed more often. You know kinda like your women. You keep the tighter ones around more often and the loose ones tend to move on fairly quick.

What do you think guys? 1 1/2" hose id for the lower radiator hose? That's what I am coming up withg through research. Actually I thinnk the water pump outlet is 1 3/4 and the hose shrinks down to 1 1/2" and the lower radiator hole is 1 1/2". Thoughts? Anybody got a loose hose or radiator laying around for late 80's?

It looks like it depends on year, model and ac or not. Hard to tell, but I am leaning towards the 1 1/2". I'll run out to the truck here when I can get away from my desk and see if I can measure mine. I don;t have dial caliprs on me, I'll eye it with a ruler.

According to my source at the local parts store, the hose is 1 1/2" and flares out to 1 3/4" at the water pump, so the 1 1/2" should work for installing in the middle of the hose lentgh. I am ordering this and will put up a step by step when I install it.

Awesome !!! :grd::grd: I haven't pulled the trigger on one yet, but I damn sure intend too. I hate, and I mean I litterally hate, getting into a cold vehicle, especially the big block 454 truck that is cold natured with a big ass cooling system and it takes a good 20 minutes to get warmed up in the winter to blow warm air in the heater. By that time, I'm where I am going, so I never got the benefit of the heater anyway and left it off since I did want to feel the cold air blowing. I'm first to admit. I'm a **** to cold weather.

The 1 3/4" must be for a big block I guess. Nice thing about installing these is you just slice the hose and let it dump into a bucket instead of dealing with a trickling pet **** drain valve that lets the coolant run all over the frame and come out on the bottom in 8 different places.
