Gear Reducer Necessary? NP208

do all Tcases have gear reducers? mine broke off in my speedo cable and I was just gonna replace the cable...thanks.

Some do, some don't. Seems like it's usually the 70's models that have one and they are a common failure point too. You can remove it and run the cable right to the t-case, with any luck it will work and won't be too far off. You never know because it's hard to say what that reduction box was even there for to begin with. Could be original, maybe not... and then years of possible t-case swaps, axle swaps, etc.
