I mixed about 3-4 drops of red above and adding bright orange until I got it really close.

I added it along with the small fuel gauge. Might as well go big since I was already swapping from idiot lights to gauges.

I did a writeup here.

Truckcarshop, LMC, and Summit Racing all carry the reproduction gauges.

Very nice!

This conversion is definitely on my list of improvements. The only real problem is figuring out how to get a tach signal from a diesel.

There are a few pretty simple options. I'm not well versed but I have looked into it. Some use a signal from the alternator. Some have you install like a crank sensor type setup. A quick google search should yield some good options.

I'm a huge non-fan of alternator outputs simply because there's so many ways for them the become inaccurate. Change a pulley, tach's wrong. Get an alternator from an auto parts store that doesn't have an AC tap, no tach.

My first impulse (see what I did there?) is to modify the vacuum pump to add a mechanical tach drive. Then figure out a way to get a signal generator translated to an ignition signal that the LMC tach can understand.

My kid is majoring in electrical engineering. Maybe by the time he graduates he'll be able to help me. We'll see.

I've wanted a tach with diesel too. Maybe just a magnetic pickup near balancer and glue a small magnet to balancer and now you have a tach signal?

Might be able to use the flywheel/flex plate for a magnetic pickup location. Or balancer as @squaredeal91 mentioned.
