I recently bought a 77 K5, when I got it the only gauges that worked were speedometer and oil pressure, the only 2 mechanical gauges, also had no interior or cluster lights. So I pulled the gauge cluster yesterday and when I did I saw traces were rotted off 1 while side of the board on the back, normally, I would just solder wires in, in their place and call it good, however I have no way of knowing which went where. My friend's brother has an old 82 Scottsdale he told me I could have the cluster for $ 20, so I pulled it, it has an electric oil pressure gauge, so what I'm wondering is, can I cut the traces running to the electric gauge, and then put his board on the back of my cluster so I'll be able to keep my original miles, and mechanical pressure gauge? Also, the guy I bought it from out in a new ignition switch, but didn't put it in the column, he had it hanging by the wires using a screwdriver to start it (I've got the title, it's not stolen, guy was just an idiot in how he did anything to the truck), do I have to pull the steering wheel to get the plastic off the column so I can put it in correctly so I don't have to worry about someone stealing my truck with a screwdriver? Any and all help or advice on the matter is greatly appreciated.

I believe you have to pull the steering wheel to remove the old ignition switch and the new one should just slide in and lock in place. It's been a while since I replaced one though.
