Yeah IV already had to lube the speedo cable so I know its a pain in the ass, ill have to check that next weekend, I'm not sure if we even got the right unit as part store only have 2, the one blade for a gauge or the 2 blade for a light, but as IV already stated my plug has spots for a 2 blade unit and it has a spot in the middle for a pin, I'm guessing its the gauges or the circuit, how hard is it to put in aftermarket gauges in the place of the stock ones

Did they give you a part # and brand on the box. I'll look them up and make sure you've got the right parts.

I went thru this not long ago and had the whole damn truck apart. My problem was opposite of yours. I used a pan of boiling water on the stove in the house and a gauge with a 12 volt power supply lead from a computer power supply to test my sender and my gauge. Once I verified those were good, then I knew it was wiring.

That 2 slots/1 pin connector issue was bugging me. Tonight I was pulling a motor and when it came time to disconnect the oil switches I made a point of looking closely at what he meant.

If a person hasn't looked at the schematics, I can see where the plug looks like it goes to a 3 connector switch. Two slots on either side and a round hole in the middle - exactly as Mr. psycho91 described:

I don't know what the round hole in the middle is for (a locating pin in other applications, or maybe a remanant of the manufacturing process), but if you don't know that the light blue and the dark blue are spliced inside the connector body it would look like a 3 stab plug.
