Gas Tank Support Brackets

I'm in need of a pair of fuel tank support brackets for my 85 k10 with 16 gallon tanks. They don't have to be pretty, just workable. My budget can't afford LMC's prices. Thanks, Dan

Just an FYI, and someone correct me if wrong, but I'm pretty certain, they are the same, 16 gallon or 20 gallon, left side or right side, all the same.

Now there are different year model as far as style and updates due to the what was said to be, fuel tank explosion on impact issues. So do you care if they are early or late style? To the best of my recallection, the early style are like an L and straps hold the tank to the shelf of the L. Later style are more like a J, a real J not like this font but more like a hook and the extended hook portion add a little more protection to the tank. The later ones also have a stud out the bottom to be able to bolt a plastic cover over the lower side of the tank. Many end up taking that off because rocks and such gather between the plastic and the tank and end up rubbing a hole in the tank.

I not real particular which ones I can get, the ones I have are the J shape with the plastic bathtub cover. I won't be reinstalling the cover after seeing what's left to the brackets. The chunks of rust in the tub are my brackets, right next to the mouse nest!

Yeah, so you see why many don't reinstall the cover. All that crap in there can rub a hole in the tank. Obviously harbored the moisture too and likely what caused your rust problem.

Are you needing 1 set or 2 sets?

Just pulled the passenger side......looks like I need both sets. The good news is I lighten the truck of about 10 pounds of dirt.

Found 2 sets on Ebay for a decent price, If a Mod or Admin want to delete this post, feel free to. I don't seem to be able to do it on my end.

I'm almost afraid to ask what a decent price is for these. But I probably should. I didn't see your post needing 2 sets, and that's what I was waiting on, and to see if anyone closer to you had any, but I'm fairly certain I had them. I knew where 1 was set was for sure, already pulled off the tank, if you needed 2, I was going to have to run over to the shop and check their condition of the 2nd set. Sorry bout that.

Not a problem HRPC, I was killing some time this morning before work so I thought i"d look on Ebay. Average price on a pair is 90-100 plus shipping. but I came across two sets for $99 with free shipping. to me thats fair considering a one is $60-80 each...
One thing that might be a minor issue is these came off a 78 and mine is a 85, so there might be some sort of fitment issue, but I figure how bad could it be seeing they use the same tank, and the frame is probably very similar.

You did good. I think the 78 up brackets work the rest of the way up and shouldn't be any fit issues.
