Those that switched to an LS, did you switch to a tank with a baffle in it? I'll be dropping the tank in the 73 to change the fuel sending unit to a three tube and would go ahead and change the tank to a baffled tank if need too. I'll be keeping the passenger side tank.

Baffled tank, 1987 1 year only c10 tank (throttle body injected), as well as 1 year only 87' sending unit, and whatever choice of pump you fancy. I have a acdelco ep381 feeding my holley efi, which produces 60 psi, the same pressure the vortec requires.
That is what i did on my 79 c10.

I couldnt find it anywhere but rock auto, and sadly, i bought the last one they had at the time. :(

This is my suggestion if you want to run a intank fuel pump.

If you wanna just run a noisey walbro inline fuel pump thats frame mounted, i imagine you could just buy a direct replacement fuel tank for the 73.

Nothing wrong with the tank. I am going to run an external fuel pump, and the Walbro I have is not that noisy, used it to crank the motor while it was on a stand.

If you aren't using an in-tank pump and there isn't anything wrong with the tank you have, I would just make a baffle that attaches to the sending unit bottom. It doesn't have to be big, but you definitely don't want the pickup getting uncovered as fuel sloshes around in there on a low tank.

If your tank needs to be changed I would use an in tank fuel pump. They like to be in a cool gas tank. This would require the 87 tank and fuel sender.
There are a few ones that will give 60psi.
Ac telco, walbro or the one I use Deatschwerks. You would also need the vette style fuel filter/ regulator that can be mounted on the frame rail.

I recently bought the baffled tanks, both sending units (if you have duel tanks), 6 port hi-pressure switching valve (Pollack), 87 up tank selector switch from CarID. The sending units come with a TBI low pressure pump as an assembly for like $55. Buy the assembly and replace the pump with a high pressure one. Can't beat the price on these name brand pieces. I was surprised they carry the auxiliary side sending unit. Everywhere else is a dead end on those.

I'm in a similar situation looking at going EFI - either Holley Sniper or Edelbrock Pro Flo - and I'm thinking seriously about getting Edelbrock's fuel sump. Basically existing mechanical pump at low pressure --> fuel sump --> throttle body at high pressure. No return lines either.

Umm, I have done all of that. Without getting on my soapbox I'll just say go with the Pro-flo. You can search my treads and read the horror stories of the Sniper. I currently have the fuel sump. It works but it also has its issues. Your time and money ahead in the end by doing it right the first time. Pro-flo+87 OEM tanks+in-tank pump.

I cut my tank open and welded in an old stainless cooking pot. In hindsight I should have gotten a 87 R10 fuel tank from a 5.7 TBI with sending unit. About $250. You will also need a Walbro 255 pump that can pump at 58psi.

Did prices go up that much? I bought two tanks, senders, etc. I want to say the tanks were right around $110, the senders were under $30 and the ep381 was $50-60…

Ya, same here. Similar prices purchased about a month ago.

Sorry I missed this one but I did the "Gas Tank Relocation" as posted. Now I can go 3 times as far as I could with a 350 and a single tank (lead foot....8mpg compared to 13 after the LS swap......16 mpg if I drive like an Ohia'n lol).
