Every old car does that to a certain extent, the square body trucks are some of the worst. I’m not sure what GM did to dampened the sensitivity of the sending units in the later years.

Yeah, I am curious on this one. One of mine jumps about 1/2 way when it is anything but full. Thought about installing a condenser in gauge feed.

Many things factory did with 70s vehicles were just not the way they should have been. This only one of them.I can hardly believe how crappy some body parts fit,and the paint defects.Molding issues, handles coming off.The bad rep the big three got back then was well deserved. And has haunted them, and us for years.

My fuel gauge on my k10 outruns my speedometer on its way to "E". So the fluctuation is actually fuel burning.lol
HAHA yup thats how i feel on my 77 sne gets about 4 -5 miles to the gallon . you can watch the fuel gauge go down while driving that guzzler

My 91 square seems pretty smooth all the time on both tanks. I do remember my mom's 69 c10 would bounce and clang almost when low lol. My 66 c20 not as bad.
