That is what makes these forums great. Someone who has done it, and put the 2 years of research into it, then able to transfer their knowledge to someone else in a short time.
I wasn't aware the NV4500 had an adapter with it. I ASSuMED the bell housing did all that. So does this mean the Dodge automatics also have an adapter???

The cummins engine does not have a molded in surface in the block like what you're use to seeing in most gas/diesel engines that mates the drivetrain. That's how they put them in everything from generators to bulldozers to highway applications. I fairly certain that the nv4500 and the 47rh/re use the same adapter, but I could be wrong. I am sure it's easy enough to find out, but there is an adapter there. I attached a couple of pictures of my engine. One is with the adapter off and the other was the chevy adapter I had on it. It just simply unbolts. Here is a great resource on the cummins engine. http://www.4btswaps.com/forum/showt...ex-BOOKMARK-THIS-THREAD-FOR-FUTURE-REFERENCES
You may say that it pertains to the 4bt, but this engine is to the 6bt what the 4.3v6 is to the 350. If you ever think about installing these cummins into a half ton just remember that the 4bt is about 800 lbs dry as the 6bt is about 1200.

I had to pull the engine out after running it about 5000 miles. There is a dowel pin in it that is known to fall out and wreak havoc. This is the reason I pulled it. You can google cummins kdp (killer dowel pin) and learn about this stupid engineering flaw. The fix is real easy, but I was unaware of it. Anyway it's given me a chance to add some goodies and the tilt front end. Here is the engine start after I initially rebuilt it.

So they are designed to be adapted then. Cool !!!
Damn, 200 lbs per cylinder. Pretty heavy motor there.

Can't really work on it today but here's the plan for seperating the intercooler from the engine.
I think I'll mount the trans cooler here under the truck with a scoop to pick up more wind.

And the dirt bike radiator here. I might paint black so it doesn't look like a sore thumb. Maybe I'll see how well the grill hides it.

Everything together.

I have a water to air cooler from the factory. The coolant runs from the engine into the into the intercooler at a 180-190 degrees. Just by seperating it running my own radiator (2 in this case) I will be at ambient temp. The electric pump is from a mustang cobra. My egt's might get a little toasty on the highway with the small turbine I'm running. It's great for quick spool not so good for highway speeds.

Alright no paint it is. I just don't want it sticking out like a sore thumb. Maybe it'll look fine with a grill in front of it.

And if it doesn't look fine, and you need to kill the eye sore of it, then just paint the front side facing out. Just paint as little of it as possible. It's not a deal killer to paint it, it's just a bit better without paint.

:roflbow::roflbow::roflbow: You're not even lying. If you only knew. When it comes to my trucks, ideas, plans, etc etc, Anyone will tell you, I've been worse than a woman getting dressed for a formal event and changing clothes 15 times in an hour trying to decide what to wear.

I wouldn't paint it, but if it's an eyesoar, you about don't have a choice or risk it looking like hell. Actually it may not look to bad without paint.

HA, HA dude !!! I have to many trucks. All I seem to do is acquire another, and another and another, but make no progress on any of them. It's a fundage and time thing. I have some trans build threads though. I usually buy them for next to nothing needing a trans build, rebuild the trans, and drive it but never get to do anything else to it.
