Ok I know we have discussed this issue before but for some reason I cant find the Information. So I will ask again.

I know I need an 87 tank to accept the intank pump, but what is confusing me is the sending unit. It seems like all the part numbers I look for have the fittings for slipping a hose on and clamping them, I dont think that will work for me with 66psi. I am trying to find the sending units part number that has the screw on fuel lines.
Sooner the better really needing to get them ordered tommorow in hopes of getting the truck fired over the next week end.

Is a 96-99 tank opening different than the 87? I think the tanks are similar in shape, 1 is just inside the frame and one is outside. Also the 96 up is plastic isn't it? Or, how about using a 96-99 tank? Will it fit in the 73-87 strap brackets?

tanks are still metal in 96, I dont know for sure but I dont think they will fit in the stirups, and if they did the fuel lines would be exiting the sending unit the wrong way (inside VS outside the frame)

The pumps I am seeing dawg, are coming with rubber hose splices and hose clamps just like TBI pump. So are you saying the pump is threaded to the sending unit and pick up??? This can't be all that hard to figure, I know its been done many times. Are you still going to run 2 tanks or just 1 20gallon?

C'mon everbody, chime in with ideas on this deal. Its a 96 Vortec 5.7 with SFI and 4L60-E transmission conversion going into a Squarebody. This gets figured out, then Pops write up a recipe for the rest of us. I want to do this too or an LS someday.

Hey, WTH, Foamypirate just did his fuel pump and lines on his LS 6.0 motor. Lets look at his thread and see what he did.

the pump itself slide on the draw straw and clamps, BUT it is also supported on the bottom of the pump where the strainer is thats why they dont blow them selves off the straw, I am talking about the lines comeing out of the top of the sending unit.

see thats what I mean his sending unit he says is an 87 but the ones I see do NOT have the fittings to accept the screw in lines, they just have the regular nipples.

Its amazing to me, its 2 of our younger members, both age 21 that are doing this full blown restore and conversions to LS powertrains. And they are both coming along great, looking like pros. Cool **** when the young guns can teach the old dogs some stuff !! :waytogo:

Anyone know the part number for the sending unit for a Crewcab truck?
Suburbans have different tanks so dont think they will work either.

Yes you're included. That's exactly why I think they are getting to work on their projects. They be the young guns and must have good jobs. Sure glad someone does these days. I know its funds that are holding me up on mine for sure. The ones I do have together have put together for cheap cheap cheap. Even if I had cash, I'd be spending it on an attorney to get my son, or putting carpet in my house or other major repairs.
I PM'ed FlamingB and Foamy to check out your thread and advise. :High 5:
