Fuel guage

My fuel guage on 86 c10 won’t read past half when I fill tank, every now and then on start up it will jump around to full then back to half , I replaced sending unit but no change, anyone else experience this?

Check the resistor on the back of the gauge. Remove it from the gauge to properly test.. Should read ~ 85 - 90 ohms, 87 is ideal...
