I have a donor 90 suburban with a cherry front clip and I would like to swap it onto my 79 dually. I have taken measurements on both front ends and the burb clip should bolt up, so says the tape measure. I know I will have to modify the firewall for the hood hinges. So, has anyone done a swap involving these model years? Feedback of any kind related to this would be helpfull!

I swapped a 79 suburban front clip on my 91 k5..... No cutting necessary

HOWEVER, I don't know if the inverse of that requires modifications.

I did it on my '80 C20 back in the mid 90's. You're correct on the slots for the hinges, you will also need to trim the front frame horns to fit the 81 and up bumper brackets. Someone else may chime in, but there was a minor issue on the flange at the upper part at the rear of the fender. I believe you have to modify the bolt holes.

You will also need to use the wiper arms and assemblies from the 90.
