Found My High School Truck

Hi, I recently found my old high school truck, that I purchased from my father in 1982. Upon his passing, my Uncle told me that he still had it and that he would sale it to me. I plan to restore it for my 13 year old son, so he can drive it to high school in a couple of years. I got a 5.3 Vortec for it and I am starting on it this spring. A lot of great information on here. Thank You !!

We all have sold vehicles and later on regretted it. It's awesome to get them back.

1978 is the sweet year, IMO. Last year with no engine computer, last year with round eyes, first year with electric oil pressure gauge.

And short-box 4x4 is sweet. Most 4x4s back then were work trucks, and were long box.

That's a really nice truck, and deserves your effort.

Love the story. My father purchased my 77 K10 shorty in 1978. It was his daily driver at first, then his hunting truck and then his sit in a field and rust truck. It was originally a manual which he taught me how to drive when I was 10 years old. We lived on a big piece of property and I only drove it into the bushes a couple of times at first. About 5 years ago he said he decided not to restore it himself and I could have it. The rest is history.
