Welcome! That’s a nice truck, I like the premise of that setup. A hot 292 would be cool and maybe see what your gearing combo is and adjust to have better highway manners. My apologies that you like Ford, but they did make some good cars and trucks and tractors. Even though they didn’t build it, the 7.3 PSD is probably my favorite diesel, and they held onto their classic truck styling until ‘97, which was the best looking truck between the Big 3 in the mid-90s IMO. The ‘78 and ‘79 Broncos are gems, but if you continue liking this truck, maybe see about a square body Blazer/Jimmy. They’re equally practical, built equally like tanks, but they’re considerably more attractive than a 1980-96 Bronco IMO.
I’m in Mississippi, too, and if you want a good 81-91 style OEM hood, I’ve got one in the Wesson/Brookhaven area to get you started. I’ve also got a pair of 1980-97 Big Dooley fenders for a Ford if you or someone you know needs those. All that stuff is taking up space that I need for other things.
