Flip kit ended up too low. Now what?

I finally got around to doing the rear flip kit on my 79 yesterday and the end result is way more drop than I anticipated. By my measurement, my Belltech 4/6 kit gave me a little over 7 inches in the rear and almost 3.5 in the front. So now I have a reverse rake that does not look good. I assume this is because of my HD leaf pack.

So what are my options here? Any way to easily raise the back end up an inch or even two? I know I could probably cut a coil out of the front springs to lower the front a bit more but I’d prefer to raise the rear. And if I leave the rear where it’s at I will need to C-notch. I have about an inch and a half between the axle and the frame.

You can use a lift shackle to bring the rear back up. I’ve seen them in 1” and 1.5” but I’m sure there are 2” out there too.

Had the same issue when I flipped the rear of my 87 Suburban. I had the leaf spring re-arched in Amarillo TX, and later added a set of shackles to get an additional .75 inch. No c-notch and zero issues.

I might as well update this for anyone who runs into a similar problem. After looking into all the options I decided to add a set of helper air bags to the rear end to raise it back up an inch. The set I ordered wasn’t really meant for a lowered truck but with a little modification they worked out great. Now I can adjust each side independently (no more lean to one side) and the truck rides great.

I’ve had that issue for some time now I even bought a set of Used leaf spring from another 90 Suburban thinking that they would be less of a sag on them (bad idea sagged even more) after I did the original flip about a year ago it was riding nice except it was hitting the frame so I had it c-notched worked for a while then started to sag. I’ve given up on the flip it’s to the point where it scrapes every driveway hit the gas tank on every parking bump stop. I’ve decided to take the flip off put out the way it was and add some lowering shackles, should of did that from the beginning. SMH …..

I had the same problem. Thought about air bags but cheaped out and used these air shocks. I did have to use a rear shock extender though

I cheaped out and added air shocks as well to bring mine back up around 1" after the flip was a bit too low. Worked great.

I haven't lowered mine yet just because I haven't decided the best way. I only want to go 4 inches in the back but I also use my truck for hauling loads and want to put helper bags on it. My plans are to install a Pierce dump cylinder kit so I can haul gravel also.I have only found the Tin Works axle flip air bag set up but that is a 6 inch drop. anybody ever put air bags on with a 4 inch rear drop?

Can you explain what you did, maybe attach a pic and part number of what you used?

I agree, I think the actual issue was the front was to high.

This is why I don't like the belltech kits with the 1" spring. It usually doesn't give you any drop over your worn factory spring.

I see this on more often and don't understand why lower it with a flip kit only to raise it back up with lift shackles/air shocks/helper bags. You can get the same drop with drop hangers/shackles and pulling the overload out. 8 bolts and a couple clamps for the filler/vent hose pulls the bed, and everything is easy to work on.
