Thanks Guys for the opinions. I'll keep digging for other ideas aside from leaving the old faded chrome on it.

The only way I would do black on chrome, or do a black out is if you are doing it in a much lighter color, like grey, silver, white, blue, orange, or etc. There is a certain point with black paint it would look weird.

Faded?
Which pieces?
The belt line trim does not last forever. Same with windshield lock strip if that’s chrome.
The brushed parts like tailgate band and cab band can oxidize. They’re also optional to reinstall if you don’t like them or their appearance.
But bumpers, mirrors door handles and Rain gutters will polish up provided they’re not rusted

am I the only one that can see a black/gold truck on the left side of the screen above my name on all my posts?

prior to painting anything that was chrome...the chrome would be removed before painting.
I looked at the tiny low contrast picture and thought the truck was brown on top and tan on the bottom. It sounded like a color change to gloss black with flat black trim, when I read your post.

Bed liner over the gold and powder coating over the chrome, might be an option?

Few pics. Camper shell currently not on the truck. Fenders and doors will be replaced. The bedsides have been replaced. The paint job in the pic had plenty of poor prep work. It looked good at 20 foot, but got worse as you got closer.

That's kinda what I was thinking if I went that route.

Looks sweet to me! I would put factory style tail lights in it and leave the rest alone
