I used to love them. My mom's '76 Saville had them. Try we're wide. Had 3 fiber optics. Blue for high beam, orange for turn, I can't remember the 3rd one was for. That would be a cool mod.

Oh THOSE fender indicators. I thought you were referring to the grampa **** people put on their trucks to tell where the corner is.

Guess I'm not following what you guys are saying. Thought you meant the turn signal indicators that were on the top of the top of the front fenders.

My Cadillac has them and as someone who had parted out a few older caddies it is not an easy thing to save. They are brittle and they are installed early on in the process so it is a chore to take out and if you nick one it will now longer work. Think of it like a pipe line for light, the light is looking for a place to exit so one little nick and that is where it will end. The one that I see in the rear view mirror always make you think that you are being followed by a demon at night.

I read that article a while back and this is my favorite line

" It would tell you if any of your bulbs were burnt out without you having to endure the considerable indignity of getting out of the car and looking, like a filthy dog would."

A good Retro mod would be to just buy or fab up the housings and install LED's in it.

You could use Chrysler stock as Chrysler was just electrical. IMO unless they are fiber optic there is no real point. Cadillac calls them "Lamp Monitors" and that is what they do. They let you know if they work or not.

The fiber optics on the headlights are mounted in the plug on the back of the head light and all other lamps they are in the housings.

I understand they were for monitoring the condition of the actual light functions. This is just an off the cuff idea for novelty sake is all. Did Chrysler make them with 3 lights? Only ones I have been able to track down so far with the 3 indicators are Cadillac.
