Everyone I know always buys those platinum and splitfire or other fad plug is new, good to here I'm not the only one who swears by good ole ac delco copper plugs.

I don't know the fancy science explanation behind it, but I'd assume a basic plug fires like this and the Rapid Fires like this
Rapidfire is just a name, with stock ignition the plug fires once every two revolutions of the crankshaft. There are capacitave discharge boxes that will fire the spark plug multiple time up to a certain rpm.
