fair price?

Sorry if this is in the wrong place, but what is considered a fair price for a complete used bed? The guy has a short bed and tailgate in primer for $300. It sounds like a good price to me but I'm still new to these trucks.

that's a good price, its funny because up here in NY if someone said they had a short bed and tailgate in primer it would be a cruel joke

Just take a magnet with you when you look at it. Primer can hide a lot of bondo.

That's kinda my problem, this is the first one I've been able to find. One of the scrap yards near me claims to have a couple, but won't give me a price over the phone.

Like the others state, check it for rust and filler. If it passes the test go for it. Hope that yard is not named Temples. Those guys think their stuff is made of gold.

No, it's a private seller. Said he bought it to go on his son's truck but he wrecked the truck before he installed it. I might see what other parts he's got while I'm there.
