Saw this in the junk yard and wonder if its a jerry rig or a factory option. It was on a 77 c10, Plain jane truck. Any ideas?

Im guessing its factory. The one on my 87 R10 looked like that from what I remember.

You can see the rivets for the mounting bracket on the frame.

Yes, it's factory. If you can't remove the rivets at the junkyard, you can buy the frame brackets at various Chevy truck parts stores.

But the truck in photo was a 77. Anyone know if theres an aftermarket sway bar add on for a 78 c10?

Belltech 5404 is a bolt in direct replacement aftermarket unit.
Supposedly requires a Belltech 5704 adapter kit if you don't have a factory sway bar.

Gets outstanding reviews at Summit.

Found one in the junkyard here in San Diego. Used my battery grinder to grind off the rivets. It was a bolt on for my 79 Big Ten Short Bed. Holes are already there in the frame for the brackets. Just purchased some grade 8 bolts and nuts and hooked it up. Bought some polyurethane bushings since the original rubber ones were toast. Works like a charm and can really feel the difference in corners. Took this one off of a 78 C20 two wheel drive camper special.

My C10 doesn't have a sway bar either, and the shocks are worn. It sorta has that 'Caddy float' thing going on. It just gives it character, lol.

I can vouch for this sway bar, I installed it along with the Belltech rear swaybar and love them. Bear in mind I was going from no sway bar to having both front and rear.

You do indeed need the 5704 brackets as well.
