I’m getting ready to buy exterior moldings for my ‘79 SB. I’ve found three places to buy them so far. LMC, USA1, and Mar-K. There is a lot of difference in pricing. My question is “ Is there a difference in moldings? Prices are $300, $800, and $2600. I don’t want junk, but not sure my build can stomach Mar-K. Does anyone have a personal preference and/or suggestions on somewhere else to buy? Any help would be appreciated.

Kind of what I thought on LMC. Truck won’t be in a lot of parking lots to get any rash, but I’m not rich by any means. Thanks for the input.

Shipping is where they get you on that trim. Was gonna go with AMD but was some astronomical shipping rate. So I ended up going through Summit with free shipping minus a $40 oversized fee. Saved me several hundred bucks. The trim was drop shipped from Holley. Have not installed yet, although its Taiwanese looks to be decent quality for the price. Good luck

This is why shipping cost an arm and a leg. Over kill to say the least. My garage door is 10’ to put it in perspective.

Maybe not an issue with trim, or as much of an issue, but the new hood I got from AMD, the shipping charge made sense. They packaged the hell out of that thing. Twice. Two boxes, the inner isolated from the outer. I still opened the box while the truck driver that delivered it was there so I could inspect it...... but returning something like that would suck. I will say, it was an absolute bear getting the hood OUT of it's boxes. lol Worth it though, as it showed up pristine. One of the rare times I felt OK about the shipping charge.

The Mar-K states the trim is made in Oklahoma City, that's the reason for $$$$$ pricing. Would like to have a trim part to see if it's worth the money.

My best options have been to hit the vendors at truck shows during the summer. That is where I load up on high shipping cost items. #2 is if you have a reputable seller near you, go visit their store in person. Spending $100 in gas and a day trip might seem like a wash, but you know the stuff will make it home in one piece and you may also see additional items you can pick up while you are in their store. BTW, in the last 2 years I have bought 3 brand new SB fenders for prices ranging from $25-$50, and one hood for $70, because they were damaged during shipping on the way to the customer.

As @Grit dog said, check us out at AMD as well. We sold the cheaper molding that you see at other places for a long time, it's ok for a beater truck or a patina truck. But we wanted to step it up a notch, so our goal was to match Mar-K's quality at a lower price and we did. And I'm not just blowing smoke, I'm a lifelong car guy myself and big into these trucks. I'd put this molding on my truck in a heartbeat if I had a '73-80. Everybody I've talked to at shows and online that's installed our stuff is extremely pleased with it.

Shipping does kinda suck on these, but the way we package them (individually laid out in foam cutouts inside a heavy duty box and then crated in a wooden box) is the only way they stand a chance of getting to you intact. Shipping companies today could flatten an anvil, it's truly amazing. If you were closer (or if you have friends that are) we do have a retail counter where you can pick stuff up rather than having it shipped.

That is a great looking product and fantastic packaging.

Here's some pictures of it on a truck. This is the head of the C10 club NC's wife's truck. He's one of the crew that puts on C10 Fall Revival. He was one of the first to get our kit and when I talked to him back in October at the show, he told me flat out it install was no problem and he was blown away at the quality for the price

What's the story with the vertical silver strip in front of the tail lights?
