Hello GM Square Body community!
I am excited and thankful to finally post to this forum. I have been lurking for the last few months, but with Spring on the way and a motor rebuild and restoration in my future, I figure that the time was right to start looking around and soak in ALL the advice and knowledge that the members (both young and old) have to offer!
And WOW, it didn't take long to open a thread and see that I made a mistake and should have become a member a LOT sooner!
I have a 1986 Chevy K30 regular cab. The original owner was a local paid fire department and in about 1998, sold the truck at auction to a young man who bought it, put it in his parent's barn, and went off to college only to never pull it back out! I purchased it in 2018 after the parents wanted their barn back with only 56,000 original miles on the chassis and 350 small block so I am looking forward to refurbishing it.
After about 3 months of driving, I noticed a small amount of white smoke from the exhaust and a slow antifreeze level drop. I instantly though of a blown head gasket so my rebuild is starting sooner than I thought!
Looking forward to joining this group and as I said earlier, am excited and thankful to be here!
