thanks for all the info guys... i guess ill have to start looking for another trans. and i thought about beefing up my existing auto trans but i really need the ability to choose my gears, where i ride and hunt it gets kinda tricky (black belt gumbo mud) and in my experience a standard has always worked better than an auto

In that type of terrain and that purpose I'd agree. So you didn't mean swap to a 3 speed auto. You meant a 4 speed manual. That can be done too.
