Engine removal tool

What do you guys think of the carb mount plate for engine removal? I'd like to remove the transmission at the same time if possible.

Have seen it done but most times I chose not to do it that way. Wouldn't do it with a cheap offshore plate of unknown quality. How good is the cherry picker? Aluminum manifold, bolts should go near bottom of threads.

Picked up a 1 ton with a 3 ton cyl. Truck has original cast manifold. Will be replacing with an aluminum.

I've only used the brackets on the front & rear diagonal corners of the intake manifold. Sometimes using the end of the head or exhaust can mangle up the valve cover.

short chain and a engine hoist in my case i have a 8x8 beam out side with a chain hoist

I’ve used a carb plate before, just make sure you use the correct length bolts for plenty of thread contact.
i prefer the two bolt brackets diagonally on the intake though.

Problem with using head attaching points they are diagonal unless 2 crossing diagonal chains are used. I have removed many engines like that when intakes have to be removed before the engine because of clearance issues or intakes were made out of plastic. Such as a V10 Ford van. When motor is angled down in rear, engine will be higher on one side or the other with 1 chain. I have never had a motor plate detach removing a big or small block by itself. However, using a plate on something heavier than normal [like a diesel] could be unsafe.

I pretty much only use carb plate but it's difficult with the trans. I usually put 1-2 tie downs on just in case.

Also, the 1 ton engine hoists usually have a shorter boom than the 2 tons so they are sometimes not quite long enough.
