Valves are adjusted properly and still no go.. all spark plugs except #1 are covered in black soot, #6 and #7 are covered in oil as well.. I'm gonna forego all this and just pull a TBI 350 from the local pull a part as a short block and swap parts over.

358 Dart block with aluminum heads 430hp/450ft-lb torque
Valve timing seems okay, maybe ignition timing is the culprit.

I thought that, but I've stabbed, re-stabbed, verified everything is getting a bright blue spark.. It's blowing oil out of cylinder 6, hence the spark plug being covered in oil.

Was truly hoping this wee oh five would get me by, it just expedited the 350 install :)

Yeah oil blowing is not good. I'd say a compression check would answer a few questions.
